This is an authentic Tribal Handwoven Tekke rug made by Turkmen tribe in Iran. The Turkmen tribe’s origin is nomadic, but in recent decades they have settled in villages in Afghanistan and near the border of Persia. One of the main characteristics of Turkman rugs is wide borders and repeating geometric inner symbols called “Gul”.
This antique rug is a sustainable product as it is made of pure wool and organic/vegetable dyes. There are color changes within the filed called “Abrash” which comes from different batches of wool and organic dyes. This results in stunning stripes of different tones in one color. The colors on this stunning rug are slightly muted due to its age. This particular Tekke rug has full wool pile on wool foundation.
Please note Turkman rugs are ideal for Bohemian living area, rustic farmhouse or new county house and will add history to any living area.
